“Teamates Matter to UISD Students” Presentation

(Laredo, Tx)-Two hundred athletes for all four United ISD High Schools were recently given an opportunity to reflect on the values that form a team. Accompanied by their coaches, the athletes attended a presentation by Alan Williams, author and founder of Teammates Matter.
Williams opened his presentation by asking the audience about their understanding of what constituted humility. Williams continued by articulating his thoughts on the topic.
“ Individualism is everywhere, but competing athletes must focus more on the team effort. As individuals, everyone’s role holds great value, however, much more is accomplished on the plaing field when each athlete focuses beyond their individual goals,” said Williams.
This event was made possible through the combined efforts of United Way’s President, Pamela Juarez; Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, Juan Carlo Rendon; UISD Superintendent, Roberto J. Santos; and UISD Athletic Director, Bobby Cruz.
Students and coaches left with this most important life message, to anyone who has ever been a part of a team embracing challenge and perseverance is to the finish.
