Newman Elementary Kicked Off The 2013-2014 Accelerated Reader “Hats Off to AR Parade”

Students from Newman Elementary kicked off their Accelerated Reader (AR) celebration in a parade illustrating their self-designed hats. These hats were decorated based on their favorite storybook. “All student participants were entered in the school-wide judging contests with achance to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. The winners were awarded their prizes last week,” said, Newman Librarian, Ofilia Kirby. Students set the total AR reading goal at this event, as well as learned what the principal challenge will be if the students reach their school-wide goal at the end of the school year.
