Man Arrested in Late Night Car Chase

(Laredo, Tx)-On March 21, 2013 at 2:37 a.m. a police officer while on routine patrol was traveling north bound on the 3200 block of North Arkansas when he noticed a silver compact vehicle speeding, driving without headlamp, and driving recklessly while passing up other vehicles on the wrong side of the road traveling south bound on the North bound lane of Arkansas. The officer made a U-turn and turned on his lights and siren on in order to pull over the suspect’s car for speeding and reckless driving.
The speeding vehicle had already passed Lyon Street still south on Arkansas. The car, while speeding, proceeded westbound on Clark Ave from Arkansas,all the way westbound on Laredo from N. Martin. The car eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Laredo Street and N. Jarvis Ave. Upon approaching the driver of the vehicle the officer used verbal commands for the driver to exit the vehicle. The diver became very aggressive and refused to follow officers’ commands to exit the vehicle. Several officers were able to eventually subdue and handcuff the driver and arrest him.
The driver, Erick Vasquez was placed under arrest for reckless driving , evading arrest with vehicle F3, and resisting arrest . Vasquez was then transported to Laredo Police Department where he was booked, processed, and later remanded to Webb County Jail pending bond. Vasquez was also cited for varies traffic violations.
