LISD to celebrate Read Across America Week

(Laredo, Tx)- Laredo Independent School District will be celebrating Read Across America Week February 25 – March 1. Every year in celebration of “Read Across America,” millions of young readers, including Laredo ISD students join the National Education Association (NEA) in promoting reading through many activities.
This year, LISD will host two special events during the week to promote literacy. On Monday, February 25, the LISD Library and Media Services Department will kick-off the celebration with a Proclamation Ceremony at the Ryan Elementary School Gymnasium starting at 11:30 a.m. The annual “Election Day” where students, teachers, and staff will have the opportunity to vote for their Favorite Dr. Seuss Character online will also take place throughout the day.
Also on Wednesday all district librarians will host the second Annual Family Reading Night Out. The event will take place district-wide on Wednesday, February, 27, from 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at all campuses.
