Tornado hits Carrizo Springs – Road Closures

LAREDO, TX – State Loop 225 from 5th and Pea streets to Nopal St., in downtown Carrizo Springs, and SH 85 from US 83-SH 85 intersection to FM 1917 by Carrizo Springs High School have been closed due to electrical line hazards.
Detours: US 83 North to SH 85 to FM 1917 to US 83 or vice versa,
Traffic signals not operational at US 83-US 277 intersection, and US 277 at 5th and Pea streets.
A tornado hit the City of Carrizo Springs early this morning. As a result, no electricity exists presently within the city limits of Carrizo Springs. The tornado also caused tree and roof damage.
The traveling public is asked to drive with extreme caution and observe all traffic safety signs and markings in the area.
