TAMIU Students Celebrate Holi: Indian Festival of Colors Thursday

Holi, an Indian festival of colors celebrating the beginning of Spring, will take place at TAMIU for the first time.    Holi is a Hindu celebration, also known as the festival of colors. It is part religious, but primarily celebrates the beginning of Spring. 
During the festival, participants splash each other in vibrant colored powder or colored water while they dance.  The celebration dates back to many Hindu legends associated with the triumph of good over evil. It also gives many people a chance to play and dance. …

DC Day 1 – Laredo Ready to Support Veterans

Washington, D.C.—The Laredo delegation was in Washington today to meet with various funding agencies to explore opportunities to compete for federal funds.  More often than not, it was the federal agency that was telling Laredo just how pleased they were with the way in which the city was spending its money and to ask for Laredo’s support in assisting returning combat veterans.  Multiple meetings took place at the U.S. Departments of Transportation, Justice, Commerce, and Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Wanted for Murder and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity

(Laredo, Tx)-Francisco Javier Castro has an outstanding warrant of arrest for Murder and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity for the death of a man who was identified as an undocumented immigrant who died as a result of a rollover on Bismark on February 28, 2012.  There were a total of 4 people who went to local hospitals as a result of the crash in which Castro was driving a Ford Explorer. 
Castro fled the scene of the accident and is being sought by Police. If anyone …
