TAMIU Awarded Military Friendly School Designation

(Laredo, Tx)-  Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has been awarded the designation of  “Military Friendly School” by G.I. Jobs, a premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.  
The magazine’s “2012 Military Friendly Schools List” honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students, according to the magazine.  The award was based on a survey of student veterans.  Their feedback provides prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience …

Laredo ISD Receives Financial Management Awards

 For the ninth year in a row, LISD’s Financial Management Department received a rating of “Superior Achievement” under the Financial Integrity Rating System (FIRST), the state’s finance accountability rating system for fiscal year 2009-2010. The rating system measures the quality of a school district’s financial management and reporting.

CBP Officers at Del Rio Port of Entry Seize 3,020 Rounds of Ammunition

DEL RIO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry this weekend seized a cache of 3,020 rounds of ammunition during an outbound examination.
 The seizure occurred on Sept. 10, 2011 during an outbound (southbound) examination at the Del Rio International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a 1997 Ford pickup driven by a 39-year-old female U.S. citizen from Del Rio for a secondary examination.  During an intensive examination of the vehicle, CBP officers discovered boxes of ammunition. …

Joseph Allen Garcia Murder Trial

(Laredo, Tx)- Opening statements were made shortly before lunch time yesterday in the murder trial of Joseph A. Garcia.  District Attorney Isidro R. Alaniz is the lead prosecutor on the case.
