Newly Elected Councilmember Jorge Vera takes Oath

Candidate-elect Council Member Jorge Vera took his oath of office to officially become the council member for District VII for the City of Laredo.  Cm. Vera was sworn in by Justice of the Peace Judge Hector Liendo Pct. 1, Place 1, with his wife Zulema at his side and City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas helping with the microphone.  After the ceremony, Cm. Vera addressed the crowd, which included a litany of dignitaries, including his niece U.S. Federal Judge Diana Saldana; Dist. I Cm. Mike Garza; Dist. II Cm. Esteban Rangel; Dist. IV Cm. Juan Narvaez; Dist. VI Cm. Charlie San Miguel; Dist.VIII Cm. Cindy Liendo Espinoza; Municipal Court Judge Rosie Cuellar Castillo; and Precinct 3 Webb County Commissioner Jaime Canales.  Also in attendance were current UISD Board Member Juan Ramirez and LISD Board Member Jose A. Valdez, Sr., and former council members Juan Ramirez and now, Jose A. Valdez., Jr.  Cm. Vera’s children, Marissa, Luis and Valeria and wife Zulema looked on as Vera thanked the crowd and told everyone he was ready to get to work and keep moving his district and the city forward.
