LPD Seizes Weapons and Ammo

   On Monday March 28th at approximately 12:30 am a Laredo police officer conducted a traffic stop on a blue in color van with an attached U-haul trailer near the 5900 block of IH -35.  As the officer conducted his traffic stop questioning he noticed inconstancies in and behavior and the stories involving the travel and final destination between the driver and the passenger. 
The driver was identified as Cesario Gallegos, and the passenger Ernesto Guerrero.  The driver voluntarily consented to a search of the van …

General contractors are required to have certain hours in traffic control and other areas for working in the public right of way.  Many times, the trainings are in English and often intimidating for local contractors.
 The City of Laredo received a grant from the State of Texas to be able to offer the training in Spanish.  The training is offered by Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) through Texas A&M University.

Grab It and Bag It: Volunteers Needed for April 2 Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off

 AUSTIN, Texas — Fed up with roadside litter and fired up to do something about it, thousands of volunteers will fan out across Texas on April 2 to participate in the state’s largest one-day cleanup.
 The Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off is Texas ’ largest one-day cleanup event that occurs annually. It is a partnership between Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation.

Annual Fiesta fundraiser helps provide scholarships for Laredo students
 The Laredo Chapter of the St. Mary’s University Alumni Association is looking for volunteers to help man their soda booth at this year’s Fiesta Oysterbake on Saturday, April 9, 2011.  This will be the 95th celebration of the scholarship fundraiser, hosted by the oldest Catholic university in Texas. 
 Alumni, family and friends of St. Mary’s are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser which helps provide thousands of dollars in scholarships for local Laredo students heading off to St. …
