ACCIDENT: One Vehicle Accident at IH 35 SB MPM #18

(Laredo, Tx) – A one vehicle accident has occurred on IH 35 southbound (SB) at milepost marker #18 in Webb County.
Traffic detoured at IH 35 SB to SH 255 (Camino Colombia Toll Road) to US 83 to IH 35. Detour will be in place for approximately two hours until vehicle removed. Please slow down. Expect delays.
The traveling pubic should be prepared to slow down and proceed with caution.

City of Laredo Planning & Zoning Director Selman to Retire

Laredo, TX—February 2, 2011—City of Laredo Planning & Zoning Director Keith Selman submitted an official letter to City Manager Carlos Villarreal on January 18, 2011, announcing his intention to retire.  His last day with the City of Laredo will be on Friday, February 4, 2011.

CBP Officers at Del Rio Port of Entry Seize 14 Assault Rifles, Shotgun, Pistol, Magazines, Ammunition

 DEL RIO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry conducting outbound examinations on Tuesday seized 14 assault rifles, a shotgun, a pistol, 22 assorted gun magazines and 25 rounds of ammunition from a vehicle driven by a Ft. Worth woman.    The seizure occurred on Feb. 1, 2011 during an outbound (southbound) examination at the Del Rio International Bridge . Laredo, TX—The City of Laredo Health Department is joining the nationwide “Heart Truth” Campaign to raise awareness among local women that heart disease is the #1 health threat.  One in four American women die of heart disease and most fail to make the connection between risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol and their personal risk of developing heart disease. Four Indicted for Murder

A grand jury indicted Jose Ricardo Flores, Mario Alberto Velazquez and Juan Carlos Mariscal for the murder of Gustavo “Brandon” Benavides. Each of the four defendants are charged with one count of Murder and each of the four are also charged with one count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. The four are accused of having intentionally or knowingly causing the death of Benavides by shooting him with a firearm on or about the 10th day of December, 2010.  The grand jury that indicted the four did so, in the 341st District …
