Earlier today, Texas State Representative Richard Pena Raymond, City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas and Maria G. Soliz, manager of the Laredo Public Library, welcomed Deborah Littrel, director of the Library Development Division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to receive a $35,265 Lone Star Library grant from the organization. (September 2nd, EDINBURG, TX)-The Broncos mustered only four hits in the ball game against four Road Runners pitchers, who combined for the first shut-out against the Broncos in 2010. Edinburg brought home three runs in the bottom of the first and in the end that was enough, eliminating the Broncos from the 2010 ULB postseason 2 –1.

New methodology leads to increased accuracy of congestion data
AUSTIN – Using more accurate technology, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) unveiled an updated list of Texas‘ 100 most congested roadway segments Wednesday.
In developing the update, the state used actual traffic speed data to calculate delay, rather than estimations based on traffic volume used in the previous list. Parameters for roadway segment length were also adjusted to better capture congested points in the transportation system. The results of this heightened accuracy have state engineers a little excited and encouraged.

Laredo, TX – – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) is urging the public to continue to clean their gardens, lots, businesses and get rid of standing water to prevent vector borne diseases such as West Nile and Dengue Fever as well other vectors. Online grant applications can help bring bookstore back to Laredo
(Laredo, TX – Sept 1, 2010) If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That is the motivation behind Mary Benavides’ effort to help bring a new, “new book” bookstore to Laredo. Last month, Benavides was in the running to receive a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. While the application was not one of the Top 2 vote-getters, it did make it to the Top 100 – final rank of 61 after starting out at 475. …

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, all Webb County administrative offices will be closed Monday, September 6, 2010.
The holiday closure includes the Webb County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office. The Webb County Sheriff’s Department will continue all services on its regular schedule.
Webb County Offices will re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Webb County Commissioners will meet Monday, September 13 at 9:00 a.m. for their regularly scheduled meeting at the Webb County Courthouse located at 1000 Houston Street.

All Laredo Independent School District campuses will be closed Monday, September 6, due to staff development training. LISD administration, faculty, and staff will report to work on Monday morning for their required staff development training.
However, there will be no classes for students on Monday due to staff development training. Students will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, September 7.

(September 1st, EDINBURG, TX)-The Broncos (1-1) showed their tenacity holding on for a 6-5 win over the Edinburg Road Runners (1-1) at Edinburg Stadium to force a deciding game three tomorrow night. Reyes Dorado got Ambiorix Concepcion to ground out with the winning run at second base and two outs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the Broncos victory.

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, September 1st, 2010, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies executed two felony warrants for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Arrested without incident was Jose Andres Gongora Jr., 27 years of age, and Juan Gabriel Olvera, 32 years of age.
