On Friday August 06, 2010 after 7 p.m., the Laredo Police Department’s Pipeline Unit (highway interdiction) while working I-35 stopped a white in color tractor hauling a grey trailer going northbound on I-35.  The LPD pipeline officer noted a traffic violation and conducted a lawful traffic stop at the 16 mile marker.  The officer conducted a routine K-9 run of the outside of the truck.  The police K-9 indicated that there was a hint of narcotics inside the trailer.  The officer searched the trailer and found 766 lbs of Marijuana wrapped and sealed.  The contraband was seized and the driver detained for investigative purposes.  The truck driver was identified and released pending ownership of the recovered property.  The case is an ongoing investigation.
