PHOTO RECAP: Sister Cities Signing Agreement

29 August 2010 No Comment

Courtesy Xochitl Mora,

mayorlazaraCity of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas welcomed City of Lázaro Cárdenas Mayor Adolfo Tovar Ontiveros to Laredo to sign the Sister Cities Agreement between

Laredo and Lázaro Cárdenas, paving the way for future trade between the two port cities.  Looking to not only model their government on some of the City of Laredo’s best practices, the City of Lázaro Cárdenas is looking to expand their opportunities for business and create a cultural and educational exchange with this border community. Celebrating its own bilingual and bicultural history and environment, the City of Laredo hopes to strengthen its position as not only a friend to various cities and communities throughout Mexico, but also to help expand the opportunities that both Lázaro Cárdenas and Laredo’s positions provide along a very lucrative and important trade route.

This is the 33rd Sister City Agreement the City of Laredo has signed and the 25th Sister City Agreement with a city from Mexico.
