EAGLE PASS, TEXASU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry apprehended a San Antonio , Texas man wanted on an outstanding warrant for sexually violent predator. The apprehension occurred on Aug. 27, 2010 at Eagle Pass International Bridge (Bridge I). A CBP officer referred pedestrian Michael Anthony Torres, a 26-year-old male U.S. citizen from San Antonio , Texas for a secondary examination after a query of CBP national database systems at primary inspection revealed he was a possible match to an outstanding warrant. Torres did not have any entry documents with him. In secondary, after CBP officers positively verified Torres’ identity they confirmed he had an outstanding warrant from Bexar County for sexually violent predator. After confirming the warrant was active, CBP officers turned Torres over to the custody of Maverick County sheriff’s deputies for adjudication of the warrant.

“This is the second time in 10 days that our CBP officers using CBP databases have been able to apprehend persons wanted for significant, sexually related offenses,” said Cynthia O. Rodriguez, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass.  “Our CBP officers continued ability to apprehend these wanted fugitives reaffirms our ongoing commitment to keeping our border communities safe and secure.”
