Laredo, TX—July 1, 2010—The Laredo Public Library Wall of Tolerance Center and Museum has its third lesson on Saturday, July 10, 2010, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Laredo Public Library HEB Multi-Purpose Room, located at 1120 East Calton Road. The lesson will explore and discuss the Jewish ghettos in Europe.

Books explore relevant topics for today’s teenagers
In an effort to promote reading and share an interest in books; provide high school students an opportunity to openly discuss difficult topics in a safe environment; help students feel connected to the Laredo Public Library; and promote and enhance critical thinking skills, the Laredo Public Library has created a book club specifically for teenagers, called the iBook It Teen Reading Club.

The Broncos, badly in need of relief pitching, after RHP Brandon Veronee was ruled out for the season when the results of his MRI on his right elbow came back and showed a complete tear of his UCL. Veronee was released by the Broncos and will return home. Veronee only pitched 2.1 innings for the Broncos and had allowed one unearned run. Firefighters Give Blood to Save Lives
The Laredo Fire Department will partner with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center to host a blood drive this Friday at Central Fire Station. Blood supplies during summer months are usually low and Laredo Firefighters answer the call for help by donating. A mobile unit will be available for those interested in joining the cause.

Due to the continuing threat of thunderstorms over Laredo as a result of Hurricane Alex the Laredo Broncos (13-19) announced yesterday that they will not play their regularly scheduled game on Thursday July 1st against the San Angelo Colts (19-13).
The forecast for Laredo calls for heavy rain on Wednesday night and throughout the morning on Thursday but will improve through the holiday weekend.
