Hernanez strikes out 11 in 6-2 Bronco victory over the White Wings

June 27th,- HARLINGEN, TX-The Broncos (12-19) and the White Wings (14-17) battled to a 2-2 tie into the ninth inning when the Broncos were able to score four runs and earn the victory 6-2 over the White Wings.
 
RHP Santo Hernandez (4-2) made his team leading seventh start for the Broncos in 2010, and his second against the White Wings. RHP Miguel Matos (2-0) was making his first start of 2010 for the White Wings.
 
Hernandez continued his dominance over the White Wings. He matched his season high in strikeouts with 11, Hernandez struck out 11 on May 27th against the White Wings in only 5.1 innings pitched.
 
The White Wings took a 1-0 lead after Javis Diaz reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and came home to score on Carlos Figueroa’s RBI single.
 
The White Wings remained in the lead until the top of the sixth. Ben Wolgamot was hit by a pitch and and with one out Kenny Gilbert hit his third home run of the season to give the Broncos a 2-1 lead. 
 
the White Wings tied the game in the bottom of the sixth after Javis Diaz walked, Salvador Paniagua hit an RBI Single to plate Diaz and the score was 2-2.
 
Through eight innings Hernandez had allowed only three hits and two runs, while striking out 11 and walking three.  
 
In the top of the ninth RHP Michael Barbosa (1-1) started the inning and walked Luany Sanchez.  In from the bullpen came LHP Luis Martinez  (0-0).  Flynn dropped a SAC bunt down and moved Sanchez to second.  David Fowler then walked and Steve Bralver, who entered the game in the third after Jason Diaz was ejected, walked.  A wild pitch thrown by Martinez allowed Sanchez to score and the Broncos took a 3-2 lead. Wolgamot singled to load the bases and Carlos Arroyo hit a SAC fly to push the lead to 4-2 Broncos.  Kenny Gilbert was the batter and he lined a two run single into left field to give the Broncos a 6-2 lead. Gilbert picked up four RBI’s in the game.     
 
RHP Maximinio De La Cruz (0-2) came on for the Broncos in the ninth and closed out the 6-2 victory.
 
In two starts against the White Wings Hernadez has now thrown 13.1 IP, allowing five hits, four runs, four walks and striking out 22. Hernandez has a record of 1-0 against the White Wings in 2010.
