Broncos score nine runs in four innings and cruise to 10-3 victory over White Wings

(June 28th, Harlingen TX) -The Broncos (13-19) scored nine runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 10-3 victory over the White Wings (14-18) in game two of their four game series.  Former White Wings RHP Juan Peralta (2-1) made his fifth start for the Broncos and first against his former team.  RHP David Cross (1-4) was on the mound for the White Wings. Cross, back on May 27th, opening night against the Broncos picked up his one and only win to this point in the season. 

Jason Diaz singled to start the inning off. Ben Wolgamot grounded out and that moved Diaz to second base.  Diaz then stole third and came home to score on Carlos Arroyo’s  RBI Groundout to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

David Fowler hit his third home run of the season, a three run shot, to give the Broncos a 4-0 lead after an inning and a half in Harlingen.

The Bronco offense didn’t let up; in the top of the third they tacked on two more runs. An RBI double by Kenny Gilbert and an RBI fielder’s choice by Luany Sanchez gave the Broncos a 6-0 lead heading to the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fourth the Broncos added three more to their lead. They sent eight men to the plate and picked up four hits on their way to a 9-0 lead.  Carlos Arroyo picked up his second RBI of the game with a single, Nick Mahin got into the RBI column with a single and D.J Dixon picked his first RBI as a Bronco in the inning.

Salvador Paniagua put the White Wings on the board in the bottom of the sixth with his ninth home run of the season. A solo homer made the score 9-1 Broncos.

Bronco’s starter Juan Peralta was pulled from the game in the seventh with two outs after giving up another run to Rio Grande. Yeurys Tejada knocked in Javis Diaz after Diaz walked to lead-off the inning.

Peralta was fantastic for the Broncos in this one, he threw 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits, and he walked six and struck out eight while earning his second win of the season.

David Cross actually out lasted Peralta facing one batter in the eighth inning before being pulled for the second baseman Robert Rodriguez.

The Broncos added a run after Rodriguez came into the game on a double and SAC fly, the run was charged to Cross.

Cross pitched seven innings, giving up 13 hits and ten runs; he walked five and struck out three, earning his fourth loss of the year.

The White Wings added an unearned run against Gibbs in the bottom of the eighth after Arlon Quiroz tripled and came on the Ryan Flynn fielding error, but that was the end of the White Wing offense in this one.
