 Chief Carlos Maldonado is traveling to Washington D.C. to meet Vice President Joe Biden and other top law enforcement officials about Law Enforcement issues in our border community of Laredo, Texas.  The meeting will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. eastern time.  The Chief was recently appointed as Border Issues Chair by the Texas Chiefs of Police Association. http://www.texaspolicechiefs.org/info_committee_chairs.asp  The Chief will be meeting along top ranking executive members of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).  It was at the IACP’s invitation that Chief Maldonado was …

DISTRICT ATTORNEY ANNOUNCES HOT CHECK AMNESTY & ROUND UP

 The Office of District Attorney Isidro Alaniz will be holding a Hot Check Amnesty Program allowing anyone with an amount pending in the DA’s Hot Check Unit to pay off their hot checks without being arrested. 
 Amnesty begins Monday, May 3rd at 8am and runs through Friday, May 21st at 5pm. 
 During those days of Amnesty, the District Attorney’s Hot Check Unit will remain open during the lunch hour in order to better accommodate those persons wishing to make good on their bad checks.

Retro-Reflectivity Traffic Control Company will be closing the right Lane of Guadalupe between Cedar and Marcella, starting today, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 until Monday, May 3, 2010. They will be removing and replacing AEP electrical posts on the north side of Guadalupe. Motorists are urged to take other routes during these days to avoid congestion, especially during peak traffic hour.

Martin High JROTC donates to cancer research

 Martin High School JROTC Tiger Battalion donated $1,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Pennies for Patients Campaign. From March 23, to April 9, the Tiger Battalion, in its fight to help find a cure for cancer, collected spare change in honor of local student survivors and current patients.
 During the two week campaign, the cadets collected spare change from their friends, family, and the community. The cadets were divided into three sectors with each Tiger Company responsible for a section of the school. Each classroom on …

R& J Environmental Company will be closing alternate lanes of traffic on US 83 (Guadalupe Street) westbound to conduct road maintenance concrete work in the right of way. Work will continue for three days, weather permitting.
