Federal funds to assist with improvements to aircraft parking area, noise mitigation efforts, and for purchase of rescue fire truck

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Henry Cuellar and Mayor Raul G. Salinas today announced $6,948,629 for the Laredo International Airport. The total amount comes from three separate grants the Federal Aviation Administration is awarding.
The money will be used for improvements to the aircraft parking area, reimbursement for the purchase of a rescue and fire fighting truck, and for noise mitigation projects. In addition, the funds will also be used …

Justice of the Peace Oscar Liendo continues his family’s tradition of giving back to the community by visiting the kids of the Webb County Kids Cafe program at the Colonia Guadalupe and Russell Terrace Centers. Liendo spoke to the kids briefly about the importance of education before handing them their baskets. Liendo thanked his staff as well as the staff of the centers for making the event possible. Laredo, Texas – On Thursday, Sheriff Cuellar visited the children at Wiggles Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Laredo as they celebrate Occupational Therapy Month. The children and therapists welcomed Sheriff Cuellar and were thankful for the baskets.

Daniela Beckelhymer, a Lamar Middle School sixth grade student, participated in Education in Action’s Lone Star Leadership Academy program. Beckelhymer was among 56 students selected statewide for the program held in Dallas and Fort Worth during the week of March 15-19.
During the weeklong residential program, Beckelhymer joined a delegation of distinguished young leaders from across the state to develop leadership skills while learning about the state of Texas.

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered one million dollars after following up with an investigation, the monies were found in a secret compartment of a 1996 Ford E 350 utility truck. This investigation is a continuation of a $500,000 seizure from last week. At this time the investigation continues and numerous arrests are anticipated.
“Currency seized will be utilized to enhance the Law Enforcement Mission in Webb County”. Sheriff Martin Cuellar sated.

All City of Laredo administrative offices will be closed on Friday,
April 2, 20010 in observance of the Easter holiday. Protective and emergency services will be operational.
No garbage or recycling/branch pick-up will be available that day. Trash and recycling/branch pick-up schedule will resume on regularly scheduled routes on Monday, April 5, 2010. Cuellar applauds President’s plan to increase domestic oil production
