Sheriff’s Deputies Search for Fugitive but Find Marijuana Instead

Laredo, Texas ( Webb County) – The Webb County Sheriff’s Office along with the U.S. Marshals coordinated the possible apprehension of a fugitive.

 On Friday, February 19, 2010, Webb County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the U.S Marshals developed information on a possible location a fugitive was staying at in the 3600 block of San Bernardo St. in Laredo, Texas. Upon entering the residence and searching the home, the assumed fugitive was nowhere to be found.  Instead,  Sheriff’s Deputies encountered 2 large bundles of marijuana, a weigh scale and shrink wrap.  The marijuana had an approximate weight of 75 pounds at an estimated Street value of $38,000.  One suspect was arrested at the scene. He was identified as Roberto Villarreal Rodriguez, 25, of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.  Villarreal Rodriguez was arrested for possession of marijuana, felony 2.  He was remanded to the Webb County Jail in lieu of no bond.

 “This is yet another joint effort with another Law Enforcement Agency in our efforts to combat crime”.  Martin Cuellar stated.
