Mayor Salinas on CNN to Highlight Laredo’s Stimulus Funding

Mayor Salinas will highlight Laredo on a national spotlight, promoting the major projects that the City of Laredo has received monies through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Salinas will be appearing on CNN with Keira Phillips. “We are looking at cities around country that have received stimulus funding and if those dollars have had an immediate impact in their community,” said Karen Zucker, producer for the show.
“This is a great opportunity to highlight the hard work of all of our elected officials, from our local council members to our state elected officials and of course, Congressman Cuellar, who have helped the City of Laredo receive over $109 million in stimulus money for major infrastructure projects, creating jobs and boosting our economy, just as the Act was intended to do,” said Salinas. “While I will highlight the two major projects that have received funding, including Cuatro Vientos and the various utilities projects, I will also point out that we have not received any monies for border security, which is important not only for Laredo, but for the rest of the country,” concluded Salinas.
