For the second year in a row Martin High School students will be participating in the AT&T/ Junior Achievement Worldwide Job Shadow Initiative. More than 20 students will shadow 10 AT&T employees on Friday, January 29 at AT&T mobile store located at 5704 San Bernardo.

Building on the program’s success and positive student impact, students will go back to work with AT&T employees as part of the initiative’s second year in Laredo.

The AT&T / JA Worldwide Job Shadow Initiative will involve students from Martin High School who will “shadow” AT&T employees during their regular work day. “We want the students to see firsthand the educational background and skills they will need to be successful in the workforce,” said Lupita Zepeda AT&T Representative.

The initiative is part of a multimillion dollar, multiyear job shadow program to help strengthen student success and workforce readiness. Recent findings from a report evaluating students who participated in the first year of the AT&T / JA Worldwide Job Shadow Initiative show the program is making an impact and changing attitudes about staying in school.   “Based on the tremendous success of last year’s Job Shadow event we are committed to helping future generations in Laredo by showing them the importance of staying in school,” said Don Cain, AT&T State President.

Also on Tuesday, February 4, 44 students will shadow 31 AT&T employees at the AT&T mobile store.
