Robbery Suspect Lookout

On Thursday, January 7, 2010 at approximately 9:30 pm, police were dispatched to the Dollar General Store on Mines Road for a robbery call. Shortly thereafter, Detectives arrived and interviewed employees, who provided a general description of the assailant who demanded money in Spanish from the registers and the safe. The surveillance video depicted a lone, masked individual pointing his weapon at the employees.  If anyone has any information on this robbery or the suspect they are asked to call Laredo Police at 795-2800.  All calls will remain …

Do not place campaign signs on or within any public right of way as State law specifically prohibits this. This includes trees, telephone poles, traffic signs, and other objects on the right of way. Signs in violation will be removed by TxDOT employees, a county sheriff, or a constable, depending upon the jurisdiction.
 If you are thinking of placing a sign inside of incorporated city limits, make sure to check with the city because the signs may be subject to a local ordinance.

Laredo ISD campuses will celebrate the birth, the life, and dream Dr. Martin Luther King.  On Monday, January 18, teachers throughout the district will be educating students through various activities on the significant contributions King made to our country.
 Dr. Diana Linn, assistant professor of education at Texas A&M International University will talk about Kings impact on civil rights.  Following the presentation students will participate in several activities on segregation and discrimination.  King’s famous “I have a dream” speech will be recited by students at Ryan Elementary School at 8:30 …

 For the seventh year in a row Laredo Independent School District received a rating of “Superior Achievement” under the Financial Integrity Rating System (FIRST), the state’s finance accountability rating system for fiscal year 2007-2008. The Superior Achievement rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Laredo ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

 All Webb County administrative offices will be closed Monday, January 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.   Included in the holiday closure is the Webb County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office.  The Webb County Sheriff’s Department will continue all services on its regular schedule.  Webb County Offices will re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
Webb County Commissioners will hold their next scheduled meeting on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Webb County Courthouse located at 1000 Houston Street.

 All City of Laredo administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2010 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday. Protective and emergency services will be operational.
 No garbage or recycling pick-up will be available that day. The City of Laredo Landfill will also be open that day, but closed on Saturday, January 16, 2010. Trash pick-up schedule will resume on regularly scheduled routes on Tuesday.
