Washington, DC – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) today joined President Felipe Calderón of Mexico, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and U.S. Congressman Ruben Hinojosa to officially open the Anzalduas International Bridge connecting the communities of Mission, Texas and Reynosa, Mexico across the Rio Grande. This new vehicular bridge is the closest international crossing point between Hidalgo County, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico.

Late Night Shooting Arrest Made

 On Monday, January 11, 2010, LPD communications received a call at approximately 12:31 am reporting a shooting that had just occurred at 500 block of E. Lyon St.  When patrol officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the shooting victim Rick Quiroz (19) had been transported by a family member to LMC Hospital.  LPD CAPERS Detectives were assigned to investigate the incident.  The investigation concluded that an earlier altercation in the neighborhood might have contributed to the shooting.  The victim and other family members were at …

 As part of Crime Stoppers Month, Laredo ISD Campus Crime Stoppers will participate in several events to help increase awareness of its crime reduction efforts.
 Rick Perry, Governor of Texas has proclaimed January as Crime Stoppers month in Texas.  Governor Perry encourages all Texans to join in this effort and work to make our communities even safer.

The “Teens in the Driver Seat Organization” of the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts will be hosting a Press Conference to announce the date and time for the VMT/Teen in the Driver Seat 5K Run. The Press Conference will be held  on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the LISD Board Room-1620 Houston St.
