LAREDO – Now that the much-awaited Cuatro Vientos (Loop 20 Extension) project has begun, residents and parents alike living in the vicinity of the new road construction project, are urged to take extra precaution – DO NOT allow children to play in the project work zone area since there are several properties whose backyards abut or are in close proximity to the new road alignment where the moving of dirt is being performed by heavy construction machinery.

New “Bucks Insider” Airs Saturday on Fox 39

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with Fox 39 Laredo, announced that a new episode of “Bucks Insider” will air this Saturday (Nov 28th) at 11:30am on Fox 39.

The Office of District Attorney Isidro Alaniz reports that defendant Jose Morales, Jr. (4/19/76) pled no contest today to the charge of Improper Relationship between Educator and Student. 
 Morales, a former Alexander High School art teacher, was charged with the second degree felony after the parents of a sixteen year old female student discovered over one hundred pages of instant messaging exchanges between the defendant and their daughter.

 LAREDO , TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials in Laredo are anticipating an increase in border traffic as the holiday season approaches. As a result, the agency is adjusting staffing during the weeks ahead to address the anticipated increase.  City of Laredo administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26 and Friday November 27, 2009 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 
 Protective and emergency services will be operational. 
 Please be aware that there will be NO trash or recycling pick-up on Thursday or Friday. Also, the City of Laredo Landfill will be closed on Thursday, but will re-open during regular hours of operation, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, weather permitting and closed on Saturday, November 28, 2009.  The Landfill will be closed …

 In observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, all Webb County administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27. 
The holiday closure includes the Webb County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office.
The Webb County Sheriff’s Department will continue all services on its regular schedule.
Webb County Offices will re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, November 30.
The next Webb County Commissioners meeting will be Monday, December 14, at 9:00 a.m. at the Webb County Courthouse located at 1000 Houston Street.

Narcs Raid House Seize Pot

On Sunday November 22, 2009, Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit received information that a large amount of marijuana was being stored at 4015 Bear Claw, Laredo Texas.  Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted by ICE established surveillance at said location for several hours before a State Narcotic Search was obtained.  Upon entering the residence, officers found several bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 241 lbs.  Mario Alejandro Sanchez-Ovalle DOB: 02-10-1977 and Jose Antonio Navarro-Sanchez DOB: 6/2/1975 were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana F/2.
