On Tuesday November 24th, at 8:30 pm, the Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted by Laredo Police Patrol executed a state narcotic search warrant at the 2700 block of Cardigan. The execution of the search warrant was the result of a two week investigation. Monica Lee Flores was arrested after officers located and seized approximately 31.8 grams of cocaine and $6,430.00 in currency. Laredo, TX – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and agriculture specialists at eight South Texas ports of entry seized a significant amount of narcotics, currency, false documents, and uncovered numerous immigration and agricultural violations during fiscal year 2009. Fiscal Year 2009 began October 1, 2008 and ended Sept. 30, 2009. One key trend was a 200 percent increase in total undeclared currency seized over the previous fiscal year.

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, Sheriff Martin Cuellar announced that the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas awarded a $500 scholarship for the fall 2009 semester to Jessica V. Cuellar.
This award is the Motorola Scholarship provided by the Motorola Foundation and managed by the Sheriff’s Association of Texas.

The Office of District Attorney Isidro Alaniz reports that defendant Jose Morales, Jr. (4/19/76) pled no contest today to the charge of Improper Relationship between Educator and Student.
Morales, a former Alexander High School art teacher, was charged with the second degree felony after the parents of a sixteen year old female student discovered over one hundred pages of instant messaging exchanges between the defendant and their daughter.

LAREDO , TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials in Laredo are anticipating an increase in border traffic as the holiday season approaches. As a result, the agency is adjusting staffing during the weeks ahead to address the anticipated increase. CBP’s Office of Field Operations and Office of Border Patrol are offering a number of tips to travelers to expedite the border crossing experience and travel beyond the border zone.
