Pharr , Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agriculture Specialists at the Hidalgo/Pharr Port of Entry recently refused entry to a 12,348-pound shipment of coriander after discovering a pest that is a known vector for citrus greening disease, also known as Huanglongbing.
A CBP officer at Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge on Nov. 25 referred a shipment of coriander for a secondary inspection. During the examination, a CBP Agriculture Specialist detected a pest amid the shipment of 12,348 pounds of coriander. The CBP Agriculture Specialist sent the pest to …

Jesus “Chuy” Dominguez Candidate for 111th District Court Judge held a sticker party this Saturday November 28, 2009 at Los Presidentes Reception Hall in South Laredo. Dominguez was accompanied by supporters who helped organize the event that consisted of music, softdrinks, games for the kids, and free chicken plates served with rice and beans. On Tuesday November 24th, at 8:30 pm, the Laredo Police Narcotics/Vice Unit assisted by Laredo Police Patrol executed a state narcotic search warrant at the 2700 block of Cardigan. The execution of the search warrant was the result of a two week investigation. Monica Lee Flores was arrested after officers located and seized approximately 31.8 grams of cocaine and $6,430.00 in currency. Laredo, TX – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and agriculture specialists at eight South Texas ports of entry seized a significant amount of narcotics, currency, false documents, and uncovered numerous immigration and agricultural violations during fiscal year 2009. Fiscal Year 2009 began October 1, 2008 and ended Sept. 30, 2009. One key trend was a 200 percent increase in total undeclared currency seized over the previous fiscal year.

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, Sheriff Martin Cuellar announced that the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas awarded a $500 scholarship for the fall 2009 semester to Jessica V. Cuellar.
This award is the Motorola Scholarship provided by the Motorola Foundation and managed by the Sheriff’s Association of Texas.
