Sheriff’s Deputies, SWAT and Ice Agents Intercept Contraband From Drainage Pipes

Laredo, Texas ( Webb County) – On October 16,2009 at approximately 5 p.m. Webb County Narcotic Investigators along with ICE agents executed a State Narcotic Search Warrant at the 3100 blk. of Ligarde St., Laredo Texas. Deputies found Juan Abrego 55 years of age flushing the contraband in the bathroom. Deputies and Agents discovered that Mr. Abrego was not only able to monitor law enforcement activities with a Police scanner, but also had four surveillance cameras strategically placed on his mobile home to monitor Police before entering his property.
Deputies and Agents were able to save three plastic baggies of cocaine from the pipes with a combined weight of 15 grams at an estimated street value of $1,000.00.
Arrested at the scene were Juan Abrego, 55 years of age, $25,000 bond. Abrego’s wife, Raquel Abrego, 49 years of age, $5,000 bond, daughter Ericka Marie Abrego,23 years of age, $5,000 bond, and his son in law Daniel Alfaro 25 years of age who had an outstanding warrant for Possession of Control Substance, $1,000 bond. All Four were arrested for Possession of a controlled substance on a Drug Free Zone.
” Unfortunately, The surveillance cameras gave the suspects plenty of time to destroy evidence, but not fast enough for our Investigators to intercept the contraband from the drainage pipes”. Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated.
