Laredo Bucks Home Opener This Saturday October 24th

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will host their 2009-10 home opener this Saturday (Oct 24th) when they host the Allen Americans at the LEC. Saturday also marks the return of tailgating to Bucks games, with the first tailgate cookoff starting at 4pm outside the LEC.
The entire Bucks team will be outfitted in Tuxedos, brought to you buy International Tuxedo, and will enter the LEC at 5pm on a special Red Carpet outside the main entrance. Fans and media are encouraged to arrive early …

 EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry seized 40 rounds of hidden rifle ammunition and seized nearly 28 pounds of cocaine valued at $888,000 in two separate, unrelated enforcement actions this week. 
The latest seizure occurred on Oct. 15 at Bridge II. A CBP officer referred a 2006 Toyota Tacoma driven by Alejandro Rodriguez Valero, 32, a Mexican citizen from Nueva Rosita, Coahuila , Mexico for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers detected discrepancies in the …

Early College students earn National Hispanic Scholar Recognition

The Early College High School is proud to announce two students that have been selected by the College Board as 2009-2010 National Hispanic Recognition Scholars.  The scholars are Alexandra Reyes and Cristina Sanchez.
 Early College High School Principal Jose Cerda, along with the faculty, staff, and administration congratulate these two young students.  “To have two students from one campus is a big honor and accomplishment,” stated Cerda.  “Both young ladies are role models for the other students on campus.”

LAREDO – Weather permitting, on Oct. 20, 2009 from 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2009, a temporary nighttime IH 35 NB closure at the FM 1472 overpass project will be put into effect to install steel girders as part of the NB FM 1472 direct connector bridge.
All NB traffic will be required to exit at the Del Mar exit and use frontage road to access on-ramp south of Shiloh to return to NB IH 35.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proud to announce selection of the winner and honorees of its annual Environmental Achievement Award.
The award recognizes the best projects or processes that meet TxDOT’s transportation goals while also protecting or enhancing the environment.  Eligible projects must show ability to proactively protect or enhance the environment without being the result of any mandate.

After Laredo students learn how to eliminate litter as part of the new Don’t Mess with Texas Litter Force 76-school tour, they can wear their support all year long by earning a superhero T-shirt featuring their school’s name.
The Litter Force superheroes are bringing a new four-month-long energized show to schoolchildren across Texas. Mildred Reyna Recognized by City Council on 100th Birthday

Mayor Raul G. Salinas and Laredo City Council recognized Mildred Judy Reyna, on the occasion of her 100th birthday.  Addressing a full house filled with family and City of Laredo employees, Mayor Salinas read a litany of accomplishments and organizations which Ms. Reyna had made an impact here in Laredo.  After receiving a standing ovation, Ms. Reyna addressed the crowd, but personally thanked the City Council for their hard work and improvements to Laredo, especially her neighborhood.  While not a native Laredoan, Ms. Reyna also commented that Laredo was an …

Sheriff’s Deputies, SWAT and Ice Agents Intercept Contraband From Drainage Pipes

 Laredo, Texas ( Webb County) – On October 16,2009 at approximately 5 p.m. Webb County Narcotic Investigators along with ICE agents executed a State Narcotic Search Warrant at the 3100 blk. of Ligarde St., Laredo Texas.
