A new state law instructs the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to stop registering and titling golf carts, but these owners won’t be stuck in their driveways.
The law takes effect September 1, 2009, and allows cities to regulate golf cart use in their communities
“While we will stop registering golf carts you will still be able to drive these vehicles on public roads, providing you follow the state laws governing golf cart operation,” said Rebecca Davio, director of TxDOT’s Vehicle Titles and Registration Division.

August 30, 2009-Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos lost thier ninth consecutive game, as they lost to the Coastal Bend Thunder by a score of 10-0 at Veterans Field, on Sunday.
The Thunder started the scoring in the second inning. Dustin Smith knocked in a run with an rbi single, and then another run scored when the throw by rightfielder Tano Tijerina got by Luany Sanchez. August 29, 2009-Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos’ losing streak reached eight games, as they lost to the Coastal Bend Thunder in game two of the doubleheader by a score of 13-2 at Veterans Field, on Saturday.
The Broncos grabbed the early lead in the first inning. Mario Mendez hit a solo home run, his ninth of the season. That gave Laredo the 1-0 lead.

Five Cigarroa Middle School students raised over $9,500 to take part in the Smithsonian Institute’s Student Travel Educational Tour Program (SSTETP). Crystal Diaz, Cande Rodriguez, Jackie Gomez, Kristine Medellin, and Carlos Bouchot took a class trip over the summer to Washington D.C. and New York City to experience history first hand.

U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar announced that Raquel Cruz, Nixon High School Junior, has been selected to participate in the United States House of Representatives Congressional Page Program. Cruz will be among 65 students selected nationwide to participate in the prestigious program.
