The Colts jumped out to the early lead in the top of the 2nd.  The Colts loaded the bases with no one out against Broncos starter Ryan Harris.  Hunter Jobes hit a sacrifice fly scoring Bryan Frichter to 3rd.  That gave San Angelo the 1-0 lead.
The Colts extended their lead in the 3rd inning.  Butch Ballez led off with a single and then with 1 out, went to 2nd on a walk to Jason Diaz.  Ronnie Gaines then singled in Ballez from 2nd and moved Diaz to 2nd.  …

LISD Superintendent Finalist Named

July 3, 2009 9:40p.m. (Laredo, Texas) – Calling him an “innovative leader in education,” the Laredo ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Dr. A. Marcus Nelson as the lone finalist in the nation-wide search for a new Superintendent of Schools.  Dr. Nelson is currently the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the Judson Independent School District, a suburb of San Antonio, Texas.  In this position, he serves as the chief academic officer and second in command for the district’s 21,000 students and 1,400 classroom teachers.

Solid Waste Employee Wins Statewide Competition

 Laredo, TX—July 2, 2009—Continuing a proud tradition in the City of Laredo Solid Waste Services Division, Adan Rivera, a 10-year veteran for the City of Laredo Landfill – and a heavy equipment operator for almost seven and half years – won second place in the annual Texas Solid Waste Association of North America (TXSWANA) Road-e-o state competition held in Beaumont, Texas last week.

Beef Recall: The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) has received notification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of a recall of approximately 380,000 pounds of assorted beef primal products that may be contaminated with E. coli 0157:H7. The beef is from JBS Swift Beef Company, a Greeley, Colorado establishment.  These beef products were produced on April 21, 2009 and were distributed both nationally and internationally.

Harlingen, TX-the Laredo Broncos sent 13 men to the plate and scored 8 runs in the 5th inning to help lead them to a 11-4 victory over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at Harlingen Field, on Wednesday.
