Laredo Police Department’s Auto Theft Division Recognized

The Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors held its annual Auto Theft conference in Houston, Texas last week and the Laredo Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force was recognized for their Auto Theft prevention campaigns and Auto Theft Prevention Operations.  The Laredo Police Department was one of three Police Departments bestowed with the honor.  Houston and Del Rio Police Departments were also recognized.  These three departments were chosen out of over 30 police departments in the state.  The Texas Auto Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority also awarded …

BRONCOS OFFENSE GOES COLD IN LOSS TO DILLAS

June 24, 2009-Laredo, TX-After scoring 14 runs in yesterday’s ballgame, the
Laredo Broncos offense could only muster 1 as they lost to the Amarillo
Dillas by a score of 10-1 at Veterans Field.
The Dillas would get on the scoreboard early as they scored 3 runs in the
top of the 1st.  Terrance McClain hit a 2 run double, and would later score
on a fielder’s choice by Stantrel Smith.  That gave Amarillo a 3-0 lead.
The inning could have been worse but Broncos’ starter Travis Parker picked
off 2 runners in the inning.

The Dillas would get on the scoreboard early as they scored 3 runs in the
top of the 1st.  Terrance McClain hit a 2 run double, and would later score
on a fielder’s choice by Stantrel Smith.  That gave Amarillo a 3-0 lead.
The inning could have been worse but Broncos’ starter Travis Parker picked
off 2 runners in the inning.
The Dillas would strike again in the top of the 3rd.  Trent Lockwood
connected on a 3 run home run, his 4th of the season.  That home run would

L.A. Times: Michael Jackson dead at 50

The Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Jackson has died at age 50 after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center.
Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told the newspaper that Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home and CPR was performed.
TMZ.com reported that he may have suffered cardiac arrest.

Farrah Fawcett succumbs to cancer at 62

Farrah Fawcett, the “Charlie’s Angels” star whose feathered blond hair and dazzling smile made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s, died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62.
The pop icon, who in the 1980s set aside the fantasy girl image to tackle serious roles, died shortly before 9:30 a.m. in a Santa Monica hospital, spokesman Paul Bloch said.

 Temporary immediate closure of IH 35 SB from MPM #35-32 – Repairs to bridge structure – Detour in effect effective immediately June 25, 2009 from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
IH 35 SB (southbound) from MPM (milepost marker) #35 to MPM #32
To perform bridge structure repairs.  The  mentioned work will be performed by TxDOT Laredo Maintenance staff.
Detour: Southbound IH 35 traffic will be detoured to the IH 35 southbound frontage road at MPM #35 to MPM #32 at which point traffic may re-access southbound IH 35 at the San Roman Interchange.

BRONCOS BATS EXPLODE IN SNAPPING 5 GAME LOSING STREAK

recent slump as they beat the Amarillo Dillas by a score of 14-4 at Veterans
Field.
The Dillas struck first in the top of the 2nd inning.  Terrance McClain led
off the inning with a solo home run, his 1st of the year.  That would give

AUSTIN-Texas will break ground next week on its first major mobility project funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), one of 29 “shovel ready” mobility projects approved by the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) at a special meeting in March.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will hold a groundbreaking on Tuesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. to officially launch the project on FM 60 in Burleson County. The event will take place about 1.4 miles west of the FM 60 and FM 50 intersection outside of Bryan.
