BRONCOS SIGN 7 PLAYERS TO CONTRACTS

May 4, 2009-Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announce that they have agreed to terms with 7 players for the 2009 season. The players are C Kylee Hash, C Alexis Osuna, Utility Jaime Morales, 1B Robert Moron, 1B/OF Cleveland Brownlee, 2B Miguel Ortiz, and P Gustavo Vazquez.
Catcher Kylee Hash was drafted out of high school and has played in the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners organizations. He has a lot of tools that has helped make him one of the better catching prospects the Broncos have had. Another catcher joining the team is Alexis Osuna. Osuna last played for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Osuna helps solidify a nice 1-2 punch behind the plate.
Utility player Jaime Morales will be very useful for Laredo this year. In 2007 he played for the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He can play 2B, 3B, and SS, which will be very useful in giving players rest throughout the year. 1B Robert Moron is another nice pickup for the Broncos this year. He is one of the better defensive 1st baseman Broncos’ fans will see. His defense at 1B should help save some errors and make Laredo better defensively.
Another utility player is Cleveland Brownlee. He was personally recommended to the Broncos by former Major Leaguer Cecil Fielder. Brownlee can play 1st base as well as the outfield. 2nd baseman Miguel Ortiz has played with both the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He has solid range in the field and his bat can help provide a big spark in the lineup.
The last player is veteran pitcher Gustavo Vasquez. His biggest attribute is that he is a control specialist and does not miss the stike zone very often. These 7 players will make an impact according to Broncos General Manager Jose Melendez. “With these signings, the Broncos have made huge strides in getting some of the best talent available. All 7 of these players will be key in the success of this ballclub.”
The Laredo Broncos begin their 4th season in 2009. The Broncos will play a 80 game season from June to September with 36 home games at Veterans Field.
