On 05/08/09, at approximately 12:25am, Laredo Police Department Emergency Dispatch received a call of shots fired by 500 Palencia Dr. A short time later, Border Patrol agents in the area were flagged down by a subject driving a Green Ford Expedition. The man advised the agents that he had just been shot at and a male subject was injured in the back seat. Border Patrol Agents contacted LPD dispatch and advised them of the incident. Memorial Day Ceremony
On Monday, May 25, 2009 the City of Laredo in partnership with Webb County will be hosting this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Jarvis Plaza at 8:00am, honoring our fallen local military hero’s and all veterans. The ceremony will be dedicated to Jose Luis Munoz, Mario Herrera, Sam Brewster and PFC. Richard Castro Jr. The program will continue at the City Cemetery with transportation provided by El Metro.

Two Arrested for Credit Card Abuse

On April 14, 2009 the Laredo Police Department began to investigate a purse theft that was captured on video at a local store in which a man stole a purse from a woman’s shopping cart then gave the purse to a female accomplice. The pair then went on a shopping spree with the stolen credit cards from that purse. The couple was identified and warrants of arrest were issued for Bernadette Molina and Jimmy Lee Soliz. May 12, 2009-Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announced that they have signed lefty relievers Carlos Alvarez and Edgar Soto.
Alvarez, a native of Venezuela was signed as a non drafted free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001. He played rookie, single A, and Double A ball for the Dodgers from 2002-2007. In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, all Webb County administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 25, 2009.
The holiday closure includes the Webb County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office.
The Webb County Sheriff’s Department will continue all services on its regular schedule.
Webb County Offices will re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
Webb County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. for their regularly scheduled meeting at the Webb County Courthouse located at 1000 Houston Street.

CITY OF LAREDO CLOSURE NOTICE
All City of Laredo administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2009 in observance of Memorial Day. Protective and emergency services will be operational.
No garbage pick-up will be available that day. The City Landfill will also be closed on Saturday, Monday 23, 2009 but it will be open on Monday, May 25, 2009. Trash pick-up schedule will resume on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 on regularly scheduled routes.
